During a modest yet meaningful ceremony yesterday, Acting Industrial Registrar Natasha Utubasi praised Fubilan Catering Services (FCS) for exemplifying outstanding employee relations and union involvement.
She spoke with encouragement and strength: "FCS is setting a precedent by permitting employees the freedom to associate through the Union. The latest award negotiations were conducted peacefully and constructively—an indication of effective management that strives for mutually beneficial results for both employer and employee."
This is particularly remarkable because the entire negotiation process was completed without requiring any third-party intervention from the Industrial Relations Office. This demonstrates the mutual respect, professionalism, and maturity of both parties involved.
Ms. Utubasi further mentioned that she will emphasize this accomplishment in her report to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), acknowledging FCS as one of the few companies that have successfully achieved a peaceful and fair agreement through sincere dialogue and mutual understanding.
At FCS, we focus on creating partnerships rather than just teams, ensuring that roles, responsibilities, and rights are clearly defined and respected. This result reinforces our dedication to fostering a workplace culture where everyone can speak up and be heard.
Congratulations to the negotiation team, union representatives from both FCS and The Allied Workers Union of Ok Tedi, and the well-guided FCS Management team for showing what is possible when people work together rather than against each other.
