Orientation Week at UPNG: A Time-Honored Tradition

Every year, the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) kicks off its academic calendar with Orientation Week—a cherished tradition that dates back to the early years of the university. The week is dedicated to welcoming first-year students and introducing them to the vibrant academic and campus life that the University of Papua New Guinea has to offer.

From registering for their chosen strands to sorting out boarding and lodging arrangements, the week is a whirlwind of activity for the new students. But it’s not just the students who are busy—the hardworking staff across every department pour their energy into ensuring everything runs smoothly.

One of the highlights of Orientation Week is the Orientation Dinner, a special event that is always hosted by the Student Representative Council (SRC) to officially welcome the new cohorts. This year, Fubilan Catering Services again had the privilege of catering for this memorable dinner. I’m proud to share that our team delivered an exceptional service for the 1000 students and guests, receiving well-deserved praises for a job well done.

As Orientation Week wraps up, the momentum continues with Registration Week starting Monday, 3rd of February. This is when second, third, and fourth-year students return to campus to register for the new academic year. It’s another hectic week for our team, but we’re ready to rise to the occasion and exceed expectations in providing meals for the dedicated university staff who make it all possible.
